With Spider-Man 4 dead the question now is will Tobey pursue the role of Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit? There has been talk that his agent had previously talked with producers for the role. Maguire would later deny his involvement. He could have been trying to saving face with the troubled production of Spider-Man 4 and allowing Sony to explain themselves before he moved on to other projects.
