UPDATE: Captain America (July 22nd 2011)


The origin film that shows the evolution of Steve Rogers into the hero who becomes known as Captain America. It will be a straight up WWII action flick which should focus on some elements from classic Marvel comics. The film is another installment leading up to the Avengers. It's a perfect way to introduce audiences to Cap. Along with many other Golden Age Marvel characters who might never get the chance to be used in future films.

-Cap's Uniform Will Be Explained With The USO Tour
-Bucky Barnes & Red Skull In The Film
-Invaders Will Be In The Entire Second Half
-Invaders Will Be Six Member International Team

-Will Be Gadget/Technology Heavy

Director Joe Johnston has an impressive background in art departments working on Empire Strikes Back, Return of The Jedi, Raiders of The Lost Ark and Temple of Doom. He's also helmed some interesting films such as Honey I Shrunk The Kids, The Rocketeer, Jumanji, Jurassic Park 3, Hidalgo and Wolfman.

It's assumed since Industrial Light & Magic previously worked on the two Iron Man films would return for Captain America.


Many lesser known actors have auditioned for the lead role but it seems like the most notable of the group include Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, My Bloody Valentine), Ryan McPartlin (Chuck) and Chad Micheal Murray (One Tree Hill, House of Wax). While these names have been rumored there could be many others in the running. Jeremy Renner (Hurt Locker) was previously rumored for the role of Hawkeye but you never know he could end up in this film instead. In any case director Joe Johnston confirmed the cast would be chosen by March 1st.
