Peter Dinklage Officially Joins X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, Who Could He Be Playing?

Bryan Singer has taken to Twitter again to reveal the first new addition to the cast of X-Men Days of Future Past. He's brought on Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage on board but hasn't named his character. While fans assume because of his height he's automatically a shoe-in for French Canadian Alpha Flight member Puck, that might not be the case. The film has enough heroes involved with the massive amount of returning mutants including a large chunk of the surviving cast from X3, to start throwing in side characters like Puck.

Usually, when Singer hires an actor of this quality and is as recognizable it's for a villain role. Think, Ian McKellen, Brian Cox and Kevin Bacon, and you'll understand were I'm going. Dinklage is easily one of most talented people on television and it's unlikely he would take on a small cameo role. There are plenty of heroes and at this point Magneto (Fassbender) and Mystique (Lawrence) haven't fully gone to the darkside yet. They would need a new Shaw or major anti-mutant baddie for this next installment. It's possible Peter could fill those shoes there are a couple of roles he could be playing.

Singer recently spoke to MTV about bringing in an all CGI character and mentioned perhaps using similar techniques from Jack The Giant Slayer. Giving the impression that the Sentinels could be done with motion capture. I wouldn't be totally shocked to see Peter hired to give life to the Sentinels and give them a recognizable voice as well. This could include a double role as new take on the Trask villain or another human responsible for the creation of the Sentinels and Master Mold. Mr. Sinister and Apocalypse could also be threats in the future along trying to chance events in the past.

If Peter was playing an X-Men member afterall, I'd assume he be better suited for a role like uber genius Forge. Adding Forge makes more sense because he could be responsible for either finding a way to time-travel or a way to put down the Sentinels with a virus or technology. Two other possibilities include Senator Kelly's son or Brotherhood of Mutants member Toad.
